About Glenbrook Day CampGlenbrook Day Camp is the summer program of Willowgrove, a private, not-for-profit, charitable organization well known for its quality programs. Since 1968, Willowgrove has offered camping, education and recreation programs all year-round for the community and beyond.Situated north of Markham, Ontario, on McCowan Road, Glenbrook Day Camp offers more than 100 acres of rural adventure including a forest, a 2 1/2-acre pond, two heated swimming pools, playgrounds, quality sports facilities, heritage farm buildings and many indoor areas for when the weather doesn't cooperate. Click here for an aerial view of camp. A clear stream dissects the property and shade abounds throughout the program area. Many large grass fields leave children with the sense of space and an appreciation of nature. Glenbrook is hosted by an actual working farm with a full complement of livestock... cows, sheep, pigs and more. Glenbrook Day Camp is concerned with all aspects of a child's development. Our varied and diversified activities are geared to different age groups and provide a challenge for everyone. Throughout the program, the intent is to teach and build self-esteem, acceptance of others and a respect for natural surroundings. It has always been our mission for our qualified and experienced staff to provide quality examples and to encourage the children through a Christian perspective. It is our goal to help children develop into considerate, conscientious and responsible individuals. The well-rounded balance of participation and learning new skills promotes a healthy appreciation of oneself, others and God's creation. |

"Camp - a four letter word that just means so much to us. We have grown and developed from all of the life lessons camp has provided. Camp has the mysterious yet refreshing ability to bring together people from every walk of life - people that otherwise would have never been brought together. The relationships that it creates are sometimes much stronger than many connections with people we have gone to school with for many years. Camp is no longer two short months of the year or just a summer job; it has become a lifestyle. We are constantly thinking of and talking about camp. Camp has given us a stronger sense of positive values and morals by teaching us that the impacts of our actions and decisions not only impact ourselves, but so many people around us. You realize that you are a role model and everything you do is being observed by dozens of children. We have grown into leaders with confidence in our own abilities to overcome obstacles and challenges we face not only at camp, but anywhere. Camp has an atmosphere like no other; it is a place where everyone can work together, differences are erased and new friendships are written. Everyone is welcome and there is a sense of love that is difficult to find in the "outside world". It really is a magical thing when a simple environment and a few smiling faces enable one to develop confidence in themselves for the rest of their lives. We believe that camp is one of the few places on our earth that can do so. It really is a wonderful lifestyle, and we could not be proud enough to say that we are a part of it." -- Brittany, Kristen and Marc, Glenbrook Day Camp Staff |
