Programs & Services

A real Day Camp Adventure, Glenbrook has over 100 acres to explore. Our programming focuses on themes of Nature and exposing children to the natural, outside world through exploration and hands on learning. We also strive to emphasize Peace in all of our programming and camper learning.

Glenbrook serves a diverse clientele of campers and as such campers at Glenbrook have opportunities to make many new friends. Camper groups are age specific, co-ed and comprised of children from all over the GTA. Whether they are exploring the creek, passing a swimming level, or holding the animals in the barn, Glenbrook campers leave camp having had many rich experiences and having gained countless memories.

Some of our campers' favourite programs are: Peace, Nature, Canoe and Kayaking, Biking, Outdoor Cooking, Swimming, Creek, Wagon Rides, Archery, Rock Climbing among many other Glenbrook programs. To check out the other programs, please see the Sample Schedules.

Watch our Peace Program video! (1:44 minutes)

Glenbrook campers are grouped according to their age at the end of the calendar year; our programs are designed to be age specific, in order to offer the best possible programming for all our campers. As such, not all our programs are offered to all our campers. Programs with age restrictions are:

  • Archery: Intermediate, Sophomore, Senior Campers only
  • Biking: Intermediate, Sophomore, Senior Campers only
  • Canoe/Kayaking: Intermediate, Sophomore, Senior Campers only
  • Climbing: Junior, Intermediate, Sophomore, Senior Campers only
  • Slip and Slide: Junior, Intermediate, Sophomore, Senior Campers only
  • Overnights: Junior, Intermediate, Sophomore, Senior Campers only

All other programs are offered to all age divisions. [Register...]

Our camper groups and programs are supervised and run by excellent staff who have been carefully selected through an interview process and thoroughly trained through several training events. The counsellor to camper ratio for each division is as follows:

  • Primary Division: 3 ½ to 5 years old; 1 counsellor: 5 campers, maximum 10 campers per group
  • Junior Division: 6 to 7 years old; 1 counsellor: 7 campers, maximum 14 campers per group
  • Intermediate Division: 8 to 9 years old; 1 counsellor: 7 campers, maximum 14 campers per group
  • Sophomore Division: 10 to 11 years old; 1 counsellor: 7 campers, maximum 14 campers per group
  • Senior Division: 12 to 13 years old; 1 counsellor: 10 campers, maximum 10 campers per group

Trail Blazers Program (7-11 year olds) [Register...]

The Trail Blazers Program is a 2-week partnership program between Glenbrook and our sister overnight camp in Bancroft, Fraser Lake Camp. Campers spend the first week at Glenbrook, and the following week, the entire camper group and staff spend 4 nights up at Fraser Lake. Fraser Lake Staff will come down to Glenbrook to accompany the group up to Fraser.

The Trail Blazer program is the perfect opportunity for campers to try out an overnight camp experience for a short period of time. Beacuse the Glenbrook staff and the entire camper group go up to Fraser together, the campers feel less anxiety about attending overnight camp since they already know their cabin group. At Fraser, they will participate in the overnight camp programming including camp-wide Special Events, nightly campfires, canoeing on Fraser Lake, visiting the Tree House and many other camp activities.

"The trailblazers was an excellent program for new overnight campers. She loved it and can't wait for next summer!! Thanks."

Fraser is operated by the same guiding principles as Glenbrook. Transportation to and from Fraser Lake is included in the Program Fee. If you are interested, please contact the office for more details.

A Midsummer's Day-Camp Adventure

[New Program!] Have you ever played dress-up? Sang into a hair brush? Made funny faces in front of the mirror? Well, you might just be destined for the stage! This summer Glenbrook Day Camp has just the thing for you: a brand new program called MasterPeace Theatre Day Camp.

MasterPeace Theatre Day Camp is designed for children ages 8-13 with an interest in the Dramatic Arts and who want to nurture/enhance their theatrical performance expertise, build confidence, and better their public speaking skills.

Each session will focus on a new Dramatic technique (clowning, musical theatre, mime, audition technique, improvisation, monologue, and mask, etc) which will be demonstrated at the end of the week in a theatrical production for friends and family.

While rehearsing for their performance the campers at MasterPeace Theatre DAY CAMP will also have the opportunity to design their own costumes, build a set, and also have access the many programs that Glenbrook Day Camp has to offer (wagon rides, swimming pool, climbing wall, canoe pond, corn maze, hayloft, etc).

Drama Camp Themes:

  • Week 1: Musical Theatre (voice, breathing, and musical acting technique, etc.)
  • Week 2: Mask (mime and mask technique, mask building, etc.)
  • Week 3: Improv (improvisational skill games, scene, story and character work, etc.)
  • Week 4: Puppetry (puppet technique, puppet creation and voice work, etc.)
  • Week 5: Not Available
  • Week 6: Clowning (physical comedy, mime, face painting, clown development, etc.)
  • Week 7: Film (Stop motion scenes, video scavenger hunt, film making, editing technique, etc.)
  • Week 8: Dance (Cross-cultural dance, choreography, etc.)

Special Needs Program (5 to 13 years old) [Register...]

Glenbrook is very proud of the programming it offers our campers with special needs. Our Special Needs program focuses on integrating children, aged 5 to 13 years old, with unique needs into regular camper groups.

[New Program!] Our integration program at Glenbrook Day Camp is on a 3-tiered grid. The system is based on the needs of the child as determined collaboratively by the parents/guardians of the child and the staff at Glenbrook Day Camp. By providing a tiered system, we are better able to serve your child and provide the support they specifically need.

  • Tier 1 - (1:1 ratio)- The counsellor is only assigned to working with 1 child. The child with special needs is integrated into a group of their peers. This program allows staff to create a more individualized plan and work on goals specific to that child.
  • Tier 2 - (2:1 ratio)- The counsellor is assigned to 2 children of the same age category (i.e. Primary, Junior, Intermediate, Sophomore, or Senior) and of similar interests and needs. This level of support would be for children who are more independent and need help with socializing and transitioning.
  • Tier 3 - (3:1 ratio)- The counsellor is assigned to 3 children integrated into a group of their peers. Children in this tier should be comfortable with transitioning and be able to work independently in some activities. They will be given support but also aided in achieving goals of growth and independence.

For all new campers attending Glenbrook Day Camp in the integration program, we welcome you to visit for a tour and meet-and-greet prior to your child attending camp. This allows us to meet your child and discuss any goals for the summer, as well as allowing your child to become familiar with the camp.

Our special needs programs ensures that all children have the opportunity to experience camp. It is a wonderful opportunity for children with certain disabilities to become part of a group of their peers, as well as a chance for typically developing campers to learn about children who are different from them.

If you would like more details about the Special Needs program, or are interested in enrolling your child, please contact Lara Feasby or Kristen Gage at the office.
